School Magazine Peer Feedback

Are the fonts readable? Are there a maximum of 3 fonts? Have they used a different font for their masthead and their cover lines?
All the fonts are readable and she has only used two but added effects to them.

Is there a clear colour scheme? Is there a sense of branding / House style? There isn’t a clear colour scheme but I like that because it will stand out a lot more from the other magazines.

Is the eye flow natural?
Yes it’s really natural. It really goes  on the lines of the eye flow.

Is the picture believable/well edited?
The picture is quite posed but that’s like any normal magazine – the picture is very well edited

Is the picture suitable for the magazine? (Subject, model, mise-en-scene, costume, props, location)
Yes because its outside of a school but at the same time the way the model is, looks good for a magazine.

Is Spelling Punctuation and Grammar accurate-Are there any typo’s?
No typos whatsoever.

Are coverlines lined up
Not all of it, but most of it.

Other comments

Really not a conventional magazine but that’s what I like about it – it would really stand out.
This is my first draft of my school magazine cover! I  decided to call my magazine 'Form! as in 'Sixth Form College', I think this is an appropriate name for a school magazine and it sounds hip and catchy. I used the font 'Gil Sans Ultra Bold' for my Masthead because it is very large, bold and eye catching, so people will notice the magazine straight away. The other font I have used on this page is 'Impact', I used this font because I think as it is bold but slightly different it goes well with my other font. I decided to use the colour white for my masthead and I put a big black outline around it so that it really stands out.  I used lots of other colours for my other subheadings because I wanted my magaine to be very vibrant and bold. I used effects on some of my fonts like bevels and drop shadows, I did this to make the magazine look really cool and interesting. I also made most of my fonts slant downwards because I wanted my magazine to look cool and different to most other school magazines. I layed out my magazine so that it works well with the human eye flow from top left to bottom right. So the first thing people read is the Marylebone on the building so they know its Marylebone school's magazine,
and the last thing they read is FORM and the bottom kicker so they know the title and then become interested by the kicker.

My magazine came out quite a bit different to my plan, but I think it looks a lot better than what I had planned. I used a slightly different image because I produced one that worked and looked better than one I had originally planned to take and use. I also changed how my masthead and date were displayed but I think they look better this way. I

I think I do need to make some improvements. I want to change some of the colours of the fonts so that there isn't so many different colours because right now it is hard to focus on just one thing.  I'm really pleased with the cover so far and I think that it is very eye catching and people will want to read it.

Photoshoot

These are some of the photos from my photoshoot that I did for my magazine using my drawn out plan.

Sketch Plan

This is my  rough sketch of the  layout of my magazine.
I came up with an idea for the image I would try to take during my photo shoot which was to have my model Sara walking down the street towars school holding all of her school books. I decided I would call my magazine "FORM" as in Sixth Form College. In this plan I decided where everything such as my Masterhead, Kickers and date would go. I also decided what Fonts I was going to be using and what colours they would be and how I would edit them on Photoshop with things like adding Drop shadows and Bevels.

School Magazine Comparison

This is the comparing I did of school magazines to help me come up with ideas for my own magazine.
