This is me preforming my A2 evaluation, it is 4 parts because we kept having issues with the camera and having to start again and then I couldn't get the shots to work on windows movie maker to edit them.

FINAL TRAILER -- CIRQUE

Jessie has created these titles using InDesign to go into our trailer to add a sense of storyline and plot, and to add some narrative. This is one of the things that was really emphasized in all of the feedback we received from the first draft viewing. The idea of the titles is that they are quotes from local newspapers and news channels reporting the events surrounding the travelling circus, and we thought this was a good way to narrate our trailer and quite a unique way of doing so.

The first title is to set the scene and is quite innocent and not scary at all, building suspense and not letting on that anything bad has happened yet.
The second title is suddenly introducing the idea that there have been murders at the circus. This title goes well with the heightened sense of urgency that the footage and trailer is now reaching. As the suspense and tension builds, the final title is the most extreme title urging people to 'lock their doors', hinting that this clown character is on the loose and very dangerous. The build up of these titles I think will be really effective at not only building up suspense and action but also letting the viewer know what will be going on roughly in the film itself.

ROUGH CUT OF TRAILER

This is a very rough cut of the trailer and it still needs a great deal of work, including adding titles and a soundtrack. However, it was helpful to start putting all the shots together into some kind of order and sequence. We now need to focus on the things we need to add to it and we will also be getting feedback next week from both moderation and also from our class so we can use this feedback to improve it further.

This is my final website I followed the conventions of other movie websites, and I used the same design as my poster. The white box is where the trailer will be inserted and there are going to be links to the official Twitter, Facebook and YouTube pages of Cirque. This website design is a lot more effective than my last one which was too messy and didn't look like a real website.

I had to redo the review quotes on my poster as I realised they seemed quite pixalated, I also decided to add the two main actors names above the billing box to draw in the audience.

JESSIE LOGGED FOOTAGE

Jessie logged our footage onto the hard rive, so we can start editing.

Today I logged all of our filming onto the harddrive which is connected to a Mac computer in the muse studio. I began to sort out the useful clips that we will consider using in our trailer from the not so useful clips that can be rejected. This way when we begin editing we won't have masses of footage to go through and will be a lot less complicated.

We finally figured out how to convert out footage so that it was compatible with Final Cut Pro using a program called MPEG Streamclip, which was successful in converting the footage. I didn't want to begin editing yet as Melody wasn't in so I thought it best to wait until next time we go to the muse.

Next time we go to the muse we will now be able to begin editing and making our trailer with the footage we have shot!

Basic Mock Up

This is a basic mock up idea for my poster I want to take a landscape photo of the clown using the rule of thirds so that the clown is on the right, then I want to edit it to have a completely black background to give it a scary effect.I want to edit the eyes of the clown black to make the clown seem more frightening.I want to place  the title in the centre on the left hand side, I want to use a scary looking white font. I want to place the review quotes and ratings at the top left hand corner, using a blue font. I want to place my billing box at the bottom of the poster directly opposite the review quotes. I want to use the same blue font as the review quotes as well.

Winter Wonderland Filming Complete

Filming at Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park was really successful and we managed to get loads of really useful and exciting shots that we will definitely be able to use in our trailer. We were able to go into a fun house, which we had hoped we would be able to do, and in there we were able to take our time getting lots of different shots. Once there we saw lots of opportunities for shots we hadn't particularly planned ahead for but that looked really good, including a shot where the clown is standing over a wind machine so that the costume is blowing in the wind and looking really creepy, whilst the public walked around, to emphasize the clown causing a disturbance to the public and being let loose on people. We also went on a ghost train, which wasn't as successful in terms of filming as it was very dark and the camera therefore didn't pick up much. However, we did get shots of the strobe lighting in the ghost train ride and the sounds of screaming which may be useful in the editing stage of the trailer as a non-diegetic sound added on top of footage.  Within the fun house was a rotating tunnel which looked amazing in shots and things like a mirror maze etc, where we were able to get loads of really interesting shots that look really unique and arty, to go with the idea of having our trailer being for an art house/independent film.

Shot Idea

Ive been thinking of rides to do certain shots on, and the movie uptown girls has these shots on the spinning cups. I think this type of shot will work very well for our trailer so we can film this at Winter Wonderland.

WINTER WONDERLAND

Quick plan for filming tomorrow at Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park.
 We plan to go at around midday so that we can film in both daylight and as it begins to get dark at around 4-5pm.
I will be changing into the clown costume once we get there and we plan to try and go on some rides or some kind of fun house etc, so that we can capture some shots of the clown in interesting scenarios and in a fair ground environment. We want to capture shots that show the clown becoming evil e.g. looking out at people in the fair, being around people who perhaps cannot see him, hiding from people / potential victims etc.
Could include: -creepy waving -standing behind things -walking in crowds of normal dressed people

COSTUME ARRIVAL

Yesterday the costumes arrived in the post, along with the ring master costume which we are borrowing from someone. All the costumes are perfect and I think we did well with the money we had as the costumes do look really professional and fit the brief of each character. The mask in particular is really effective and scary and was definitely worth spending the most money on as it has great detail which will be picked up well on with close up shots etc. It will also increase the scariness of the clown considerably as it is really frightening and striking.

As the costumes have now arrived we will be able to begin filming scenes with characters involved, and will start with some shots of the clown leaving the ringmasters office, including some close ups and shots of the clown beginning to become evil and crazy after being drugged. These shots will be filmed in the dark corridor next to the study room at the main site school building, where it looks quite eery and is dark, with a door that can be opened for the clown to come out of, as if coming out of the 'ringmaster's office'.

CLOWN ACTOR

Jessie and I have decided that I will play the clown character as it will be a lot easier for us to organise filming and the person playing the clown won't actually be seen anyway due to the mask and baggy costume so it won't be obvious I'm not a typical clown character/actor.

COSTUME PURCHASE

Jessie got a reply from the seller on eBay and has now purchased this costume as it was a really cheap price. It's exactly like the one we wanted.
